Witham MP Priti Patel has welcomed the announcement that the Department for Health and Social Care are investing £69 million in funding to support services at Colchester Hospital and Ipswich Hospital as part of their merger into a single Trust. The funding to be delivered as part of a national package of investments in Sustainability and Transformation Plans capital funding projects will support new investments in improving services and clinical strategies as the hospitals merge under one Trust. Ipswich Hospital has already been supporting Colchester Hospital to improve. Priti said:

“Colchester Hospital has been on a long journey to improve and this new investment announced by the Government will support the Hospital as it starts a new chapter in its history. So far the working with Ipswich has helped improve services and bringing the two hospitals together under one Trust will support innovation and best practice.  The new investment from the Government shows a commitment to raise standards and improve the provision of NHS services in this part of Essex as we experience population growth and the demands of an ageing population. I have consistently campaigned for more funding for the NHS in Essex and welcome this announcement.”
