Ticket office closure concerns raised by Priti in Parliament

Witham MP Priti Patel has raised local concerns with the proposed closures of ticket offices at four stations in her constituency. Under proposals consulted on in the summer, Greater Anglia have proposed closing the ticket offices at Hatfield Peverel, Witham, Kelvedon and Marks Tey stations. Priti, who has been in contact with the Secretary of State for Transport and the Managing Director of Greater Anglia to express local opposition to the plans, said:

“My constituents are frustrated and angry by the plans to close ticket offices. This part of Essex has a growing population and people and businesses rely on rail services to travel to London, Chelmsford, Colchester and other destinations and manned tickets offices provide them with vital services. Greater Anglia and Government need listen carefully to the concerns and objections raised and respond to them.”
