Witham MP congratulates Thurstable School on reaching National Final of rocket competition

Priti Patel MP has congratulated Thurstable School on reaching the National Final of the UK Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge.

The National Final will take place on Wednesday 23 May and the team will compete against 13 other teams to represent the UK in the International Final against teams from the USA, Japan and France at the Farnborough International Airshow later this year. The competition requires teams to design, build and launch a rocket, which reaches a set altitude and land its crew – two eggs – safely on the ground without cracking.

“This is a wonderful achievement and I wish the team from Thurstable School every success in the National Final.”

“It would be fantastic if the team did reach the International Finals and we had a team from Essex representing the UK on the international stage. I hope that the whole County gets behind Thurstable School and wishes them the best of luck!”
