Local MP, Priti Patel, has congratulated both Stanway School and Thurstable School on reaching the South East Regional Finals of the UK Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge.

The regional final will take place on Thursday 19 April and the competition requires teams to design, build and launch a rocket, which reaches a set altitude and lands its crew – two eggs – safely on the ground without cracking.

Priti said:

“I am delighted to see local schools get involved with this competition, which provides opportunities to young people to learn more about technology, science, engineering and maths as well as discover exciting career opportunities.”

“2018 is the Year of Engineering and I hope that this competition has showcased the creativity and opportunity of engineering careers and encouraged and inspired young people from my constituency to consider pursuing careers in this field.

“I wish the teams representing both Stanway School and Thurstable School every success in this competition and I hope that have an enjoyable day at the regional finals.”
