Witham MP Priti Patel has called on the authorities to work together to address recent crime and anti-social behaviour problems in the town. Recently reports of anti-social behaviour in the town centre, burglaries and criminality affecting homes and businesses have caused concern across the local area. Priti, who is organising a meeting with Witham Town Council, Essex Police and local businesses to discuss this issue said:

“I am shocked and appalled to see the yobbish behaviour and brazen criminality taking place. Family homes and local businesses are being violated making people feel unsafe and putting livelihoods at risk. This behaviour is not acceptable and we need to see robust action taken to solve these problems.”

“We need to see more patrols on our streets and I am working with the Police, Town Council and businesses to get effective crime reduction matters put in place. We do get waves of crime and it is important we get on top of this current spike and the criminal justice system hands out strong punishments to the offenders. We need a zero tolerance clampdown on the criminality and anti-social behaviour blighting our town.”
