Witham MP Priti Patel has met with Adam and Jo Gillespie of Complete Dance (28.02.20), to confirm her continued support for their effort to transform a vacant industrial unit on Wheaton Road into a dance studio. Their original planning application was refused by Braintree District Council, who rigidly applied an out-of-date planning policy to twice block the proposals. The couple are now appealing the decision.

Priti, who has written to the Planning Inspectorate which is now considering the appeal, urging them to approve the application, said: “Complete Dance are a fantastic local business providing dance classes to hundreds of young people. Their plan to turn an industrial unit, which has been sitting unused for more than five years into a modern dance studio, are popular locally and will provide them with a venue to grow their business. Complete Dance are taking a team of 11-18 year olds to the Dance World Cup in Rome in June this year to represent England. They deserve our full support, not needless obstacles.

“The original decision by Braintree District Council to refuse this application was ridiculous and I am pressing the independent planning inspector to grant permission so that Complete Dance can have a bright future helping young people in Witham to develop new skills and to challenge the world.”
