Priti Patel, the local Witham MP, has urged residents in her constituency to shop locally and give their support to small businesses in the run up to Christmas, to link up with Small Business Saturday 2022 (3rd December 2022) which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

The MP was out and about on Small Business Saturday talking to stall holders from small businesses at the Witham Christmas Fayre, including Tiptree Patisserie, C & M Distillers and Garland Girls Essex (photos attached).

Priti said “Small businesses are the beating heart of the UK economy. We are fortunate to have so many fantastic local and often family run businesses across the constituency, and in these challenging times it is so important that we support them.

“As the MP for Witham, it is always a great pleasure visiting small businesses in the constituency and meeting the owners and employees.  This year, I have had the opportunity to visit more than 20 small businesses, including performing no fewer than eight opening ceremonies. It is an honour to officiate at opening ceremonies for new or re-launched businesses such as the Green Man in Little Braxted, the 7 Spices at the New Times and Tom’s Farm Shop in Tiptree, Woof & Purr pet supplies in Coggeshall and Motus Truck & Van Hire and GKs Graphics, both in Witham.

“Our part of Essex is a prime location to open a business, and the entrepreneurial spirit we are renowned for is exemplified by these types of small businesses. Alongside visits, I also held a small business roundtable conference working with Essex Chambers of Commerce in July to discuss the economic climate and how we can help support these businesses to grow.

“Small Business Saturday is an excellent annual campaign to promote small businesses that are a vital part of our local communities and I am delighted to give my support this year and every year.”
