Priti Patel, the MP for Witham, has called upon people in local business groups and skilled professionals to apply for non-elective governor roles with the Acorn Academy local governing committee.

The roles, which are voluntary and unremunerated are an important part of governance of the overall school structure, with the governing committee helping to ensure the School delivers quality education for its pupils and shaping the future direction of the School’s development.

A high level of education understanding or previous experience in a governor role is not required, but the School is looking for individuals with a wide range of professional skills and experience who will be able to devote the required time and commitment to the position. In particular, those with either a capability or willingness to chair the committee.

Priti said: “School governors play such an important role in the success of our local schools and delivering on that all important goal of ensuring our children have the best quality of education and schooling possible. I would urge those interested in the role to contact the Trust who can provide more information on the role and recruitment process”.
