Witham MP Priti Patel has called on members of Braintree District Council’s Planning Committee to listen to the residents of Witham Town and refuse the planning application for 78 dwellings on the Gimsons site, River Walk, Witham. The Council has published its report for the 19 March 2019 Planning Committee meeting which recommends that the application is improved subject to conditions. Priti, who has been supporting residents in opposing this application, said:

“The Town is completely untied in its opposition to these plans, which would cause serious harm to our local community. The Council must listen to local concerns and we will all be putting a robust case to the Planning Committee.”

“This site is unsuitable for a development of this scale and should be refused. There are a large number of unanswered questions about these plans and it would be extremely disappointing if the Committee approved this against local wishes.”
