After attending the commemorations at the Cenotaph on Sunday (8th November), local MP Priti Patel, made a special trip to the War Memorial in Witham to lay a wreath to the fallen.

No formal services were held due to Covid-19 regulations and social distancing but the Witham MP, had a quiet moment in front of the memorial to lay the wreath.

Priti said: “At this time of year, it is always very moving to remember those who gave their lives for us. It was particularly poignant to see the names of those from Witham on display at the Memorial, including one local family that lost three sons. They made the ultimate sacrifice and we should never forget them.”

Wreaths from local dignitaries and organisations were laid at the War Memorial at intervals throughout the day, to avoid large gatherings.
