Witham MP Priti Patel has signed the book of condolence for the late Queen Elizabeth II at Witham Town Hall on Sunday. Priti signed the book after joining the local councillors and residents at the local proclamation announcing King Charles III’s accession to the throne. Priti had also paid tribute to the late Queen on Friday in the House of Commons, speaking of her lifetime of public service, her visit to Tiptree in 2010 and her love of horse racing. Commenting after signing the book of condolence, Priti said:

“Across the Witham constituency we are mourning the passing of the late Queen and remembering her lifetime of duty and public service to the people of this country, the Commonwealth and other parts of the world. For seventy years she has been a constant in our public life and an inspiration. Speaking with residents in Witham, they all remember how the late Queen was always there for us, in good times and bad, and send their sincere and heartfelt condolences to King Charles III and the Royal Family”

“Now the Elizabethan era has ended, we pledge our loyalty to our new Sovereign, King Charles III, and wish him a long and successful reign. God Save The King.”
