Pickles Playhouse gets VIP re-launch
Priti Patel MP has formally opened the new revamped Pickles Playhouse at Unit 12, 27 Crittall Road, Witham CM8 3DR. Opening its doors to the public on Friday 18th September, Pickles Playhouse provides a soft ball entertainment centre for children of 7 years of age and under. Part of the revamp is the extension of the opening hours to seven days a week and the addition of a weekday, after school dinner and play session.
The Centre, which has been in Witham for nine years, is re-opening after the lockdown under completely new management, led by its new owners, Marie Downes and her husband Daniel. Mr & Mrs Downes conducted Priti on a tour of the revamped Centre, which includes extensive play areas and the Pickles Pantry cafe, where parents will be able to buy a selection of fresh homemade refreshments, including light meals. The café will also provide a takeaway service.
The tour was followed by a ceremony held at the front door of the premises, when Priti cut the ribbon to formally declare Pickles Playhouse open for business.
Commenting after her tour, Priti said: The new Playhouse is a very high-quality play facility for young children, where they will be able to enjoy a variety of stimulating activities in a safe environment. I’m delighted that children in the Witham constituency will be able use this facility as this type of active play is so much better than long hours staring at tablets and computer games! I would encourage local people to give it their full support and I wish Pickles Playhouse every success in the future.”
Marie Downes said: “We were thrilled that Priti agreed to launch our new, updated Pickles Playhouse and we enjoyed showing her what we have to offer young children in the area. As the only facility like it in Witham, we are passionate about making it a great experience for both the children who play here and the parents who visit with them. Covid restrictions require us to have a booking system, to limit the numbers who can use the Centre at the same time and to institute a rigorous sanitising regime. All of this has been organised and I would encourage parents to book in as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment!”
The visit was organised in conjunction with the Witham Chamber of Commerce.
