Priti Patel, the MP for Witham, is calling on the public to give their views on proposals to regenerate the Newlands Shopping Centre and include in the plans a new health centre facility. The proposals are being developed by Centre owners New River Retail and have been shared with Witham Town Council in advance of a formal planning application. The health centre facility would be incorporated into the scheme and provide residents with improved health services in the Town.

Priti, who has secured agreement from the NHS and local GPs to work on developing the health centre, said: “Getting a new multi-purpose health centre into Witham will be a big benefit for this part of Essex. It will help increase capacity for GPs and enable more treatments and services to be provided locally. There is an opportunity to incorporate this into the regeneration of the Newlands Centre and serious plans have now come forward.”

“I know local people will have views on the wider regeneration plans being proposed and it is important that they have their say and New River Retail engages constructively. As the new re-elected MP for Witham, I will continue to work with the NHS, our GPs, New River Retail and the local community in putting together plans that can be supported.”
