Witham’s MP, Priti Patel, has called in at the Bakehouse Express coffee shop, 63b Newland Street, Witham, to meet the proprietor, Lucy Barnett and her staff. Priti visited on Friday 18th February to introduce herself and hear all about the business, which is very new to her constituency.

Priti was shown their extensive range of afternoon teas, freshly baked savouries and cakes which can be enjoyed on their premises. The Bakehouse also offers a takeaway service, which includes special afternoon teas for family occasions such as Mother’s Day.

Commenting after her visit, Priti said: “I am always pleased to see new businesses starting up in my constituency and I was delighted to have the opportunity to call in and meet Lucy and her team. Their products looked really impressive as was the care and attention they obviously put into preparing them. I hope local people will give the Bakehouse their full support. I will be monitoring their progress in the future and I hope to visit again in a year or two, to see how they are getting on.”

Lucy Barnett said: “I was very pleased that Priti was able to call in and find out more about what we are doing and our aspirations for the future. Her encouragement and support are greatly appreciated.”

The visit was arranged with the assistance of Witham Chamber of Commerce.
