Witham MP Priti Patel recently visited Reach Essex, a specialist school based in Witham, to meet with staff and pupils following the school being recognised as a Thrive school of excellence for mental wellbeing.

This inspirational organisation supports vulnerable children and young people whose behaviour, anxieties or other factors impact upon their wellbeing and achievement.

Priti toured the site with Gemma Quantrill, Director of Operations, and met with pupils, including children with SEN and/or disabilities who aren’t able to be taught in a mainstream school.

Priti said: “It was a real pleasure to meet with the staff and young people at Reach Essex.

It is of vital importance to me that children with SEN and other disabilities get the support they need to flourish and enjoy the opportunities that a full education provides.

I would like to pay tribute to the staff who have made it possible for Reach Essex to become a Thrive school of excellence for mental wellbeing. This is a huge achievement which the staff and students should be immensely proud of.”
