Witham’s MP, Priti Patel, has today (19th June) called in to see the newly opened AKA Chinese Restaurant & Lounge at 47 Newland Street, to meet owner Alex Lai and Restaurant Manager, Kenny Wong.

During her visit, Priti was given a tour of the restaurant and a briefing on the plans that Alex and Kenny have for its future. She also took the time to study the menus on offer.

Commenting after her visit, Priti said: “I was pleased to be able to drop into the new AKA Restaurant & Lounge. I was not available for the grand opening last month due to Ministerial diary commitments, so I was determined to make sure that I called in today. It seems like a terrific place to go to for a meal or a drink. The refurbishment of the property looks superb.

“I am always pleased to see a new business making a start in Witham and particularly so in the hospitality sector, which has had a tough time in the last year or so. It was great to meet Alex and Kenny. I wish them well with their new business and I will be following their progress with great interest. I would encourage local people to give them their full support.”

Alex Lai said: “We were very pleased to see Priti and give her the tour. Her support and encouragement are greatly appreciated. Preparing for and opening a new restaurant during a pandemic has been a challenge! We are more than pleased to be open and very grateful for the support we’ve had from the public.”
