Witham’s MP, Priti Patel has caught up with Brainwave, the children’s charity, at their Essex Centre in Witham today, (19th July). Priti has supported Brainwave and helped with their fundraising activities for many years. She was joined for a briefing meeting on the charity’s latest activities by Cllr Ron Ramage, Deputy Mayor of Witham.

Brainwave helps children with disabilities and their families at three Centres, one of which is in Witham. Brainwave gives children with disabilities and additional needs the best opportunity in life to achieve greater independence by working with them to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential. They do this through a range of educational and physical therapies, some of which are home based therapy programmes.

Commenting after her meeting with Nicky Evans, the charity’s Regional Fundraising Manager, Priti said: “I was delighted to meet Nicky and her team to discuss Brainwave’s outstanding work helping children with disabilities and additional needs to improve mobility, communication skills and learning through educational and physical therapies. The centre based in Witham provides support for children and families from across the South East of England and their work is invaluable in giving these children opportunities for increased independence. I have supported Brainwave for over a decade with their fundraising efforts and I am continuing to assist them in growing their funding base, so that we can support more children at this wonderful centre.”

Nicky Evans said: “It is always good to see Priti, who has been a long term supporter of our work and is always interested in what we are doing. We were able to provide her with a full briefing on our latest activities and we also talked through matters that she may be able to help us with, in the future.”
