Priti calls for residents to take part in St Peter’s Hospital consultation

Published: 20th March 2024 - 11:01 am Category: Local News

The ongoing consultation that the Mid & South Essex Integrated Care Service (MSE ICS) are currently undertaking about the proposed closure of St Peter’s Hospital in Maldon is currently active until 4th April 2024.

The current consultation proposals, to make permanent the relocation of midwifery services to Braintree, to remove stroke rehabilitation services and to consider the relocation of other services away from St Peter’s are deeply concerning.

Priti is very vocal about the need for greater localised health care provision and more local NHS services which are accessible to residents. Priti very much appreciates the concerns that local residents have raised following the announcement of these proposals, and she has already met with NHS to discuss these concerns and the consultation.

Since being elected in 2010, Priti has consistently campaigned for new community healthcare services, particularly in light of the growing population and new housing, as well as the increased demands on these services locally.

While St Peter’s Hospital is an old building and its facilities are dated, the NHS must reconsider these plans. Sir John Whittingdale MP and Priti are clear that the NHS must look at how we can retain some of the essential services that are already available at the site. Priti will continue to engage with the NHS over this matter, and continue to question and challenge their plans.

Priti would welcome your views on these proposals, and would appreciate if you could fill in the survey on her website by scanning the QR code above or visiting

Priti would also encourage all impacted constituents to submit to the Mid & South Essex ICS consultation, which is open for submissions until the 4th of April.
