The Witham MP, Priti Patel, has paid her first visit to the new premises opened by Complete Dance Studios at Newland House, in the Newlands Shopping Centre. On Saturday (19th June), Priti was given a tour by Jo and Adam Gillespie, proprietors of Complete Dance, followed by meeting some of the younger dancers who undertake classes at the Studio.

Complete Dance specialises in providing high class dance and theatre training and the MP was treated to a special display by students from the Dance World Cup Squad, prepared especially for her entertainment.

Commenting after her visit, Priti said: “I am absolutely delighted that Complete Dance have found such a good home. I know what a battle it was for them to find suitable premises, when they had outgrown their previous home. I always gave them every support because they are an absolute asset to the local community, allowing young people to develop some quite amazing talents and skills. It has been a real pleasure for me to catch up with Jo and Adam, to see their new facilities and the joy they bring to many young faces.

“It is beyond exciting that they will be competing in the Dance World Cup later this year. They really are putting Witham on the Dance World Stage! We should all be very proud of them.”

In 2020, Complete Dance’s Inter and Senior Team qualified for the Dance World Cup, which will finally be held, after a long delay for Covid, in August 2021 in Telford, Shropshire, where they will be representing England and taking part alongside 120,000 competitors from 62 countries.

Jo Gillespie, Principal and Director at Complete Dance, said: “It was a great pleasure to catch up with Priti again and to give her the tour. We have always known that we have her support as she has been a regular visitor and has gone into battle for us with the local authority, which is very much appreciated. Our dancers enjoyed meeting her and displaying some of their skills, which she very obviously enjoyed.”
