Witham MP, Priti Patel, is supporting this year’s Summer Reading Challenge and is calling on young people across her constituency to take part.

The Summer Reading Challenge is run by charity The Reading Agency and encourages young people to read six books throughout the summer holidays. The theme for this year’s challenge is Space Chase, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, and those wishing to take part just need to head to their local library to sign up.

Priti said: “Although we are half way through August, there is still plenty of time for young people across the Witham constituency to sign up and complete this year’s challenge. The Summer Reading Challenge is a free and fun way to encourage young people to read and develop their literacy skills. As part of my Get Witham Reading day this year, Witham Library visited local schools to sign pupils up to the challenge and I hope that many more young people across my constituency will visit their local library over the next few weeks to take part this summer.”

The Summer Reading Challenge is running at Essex Libraries until Monday 2nd September 2019 and more information about taking part can be found at: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/.
