Priti slams BDC planning refusal for Complete Dance studio

Priti Patel, Conservative Party Parliamentary Candidate for Witham, has slammed Braintree District Council for refusing to grant planning permission for Complete Dance to open a studio on a site at Wheaton Road. The site, which has been vacant for a number of years, could have been turned into a dance studio supporting employment opportunities and offering dozens of dance classes each week to hundreds of local residents. Council officers had recommended the application be refused as the Council opposed the change of planning use classification and this was endorsed last night by members of the planning committee (19 November 2019). Priti, who has been supporting the application, said:

“I am appalled by this decision, which impacts on an outstanding local business and harms the opportunities of young people to dance and stay fit and healthy. When there are other similar businesses operating on industrial estates elsewhere in the District and the country it is outrageous that this application has been turned down. The site has been empty for years and it defies common sense that the Council would reject this great opportunity to put it into use and secure investment in the Town. I will carry on supporting Complete Dance.”
