Priti calls for views on A12 widening scheme
The Witham MP, Priti Patel, has called on residents, local communities and businesses to respond to the latest consultation on the A12 Widening Scheme. The preliminary design consultation runs for eight weeks and includes detailed designs about the proposed works to widen the A12 into a three-lane carriageway between junction 19 at the Boreham Interchange and junction 25 at the Marks Tey Interchange.
Information about proposed junctions and environmental impacts are included in this statutory consultation, which is taking place before an application is submitted to seek a Development Consent Order for the works to be approved.
Priti said: “The A12 Widening Scheme will transform travel in this part of Essex by modernising this road, making it safer and reducing congestion. This will help boost our economy by supporting businesses, help create jobs, attract investment, and make travel easier for people commuting for work or leisure. We have waited a long time for this scheme to progress and it is vital that people have their say on these detailed designs.”
“With the changes proposed, new junctions and the route alignment altering in places I am aware of specific local issues that some residents and communities will have with parts of the designs published. I would encourage everyone with a view to come forward and respond to this consultation and I will be working Highways England and Essex County Council to ensure they are considered and seek to resolve them where possible.”
