Witham MP, Priti Patel, has been given a tour of the new refurbished Town Hall building and its grounds, on Newland Street, Witham (17th September) by the Mayor of Witham, Cllr Angela Kilmartin.

During Priti’s tour, she was shown the new, renovated town council offices and council chamber as well as rare documents and furniture that are on display in the building. Priti and Angela also had a discussion about future development plans for the site.

Speaking after her visit, Priti said: “I very much enjoyed catching up with Angela during her Mayoral year and the tour I was given of the Town Hall.  The new facilities are very impressive and something that the Town should be proud of in the future.  It was also fascinating to see aspects of the Town’s heritage on display.”

Cllr Kilmartin said: “It was a great pleasure to see Priti and to show her what we have done with the Town Hall.  I was also able to show her some of the history of our Town through the exhibits we have on display.”

During her visit, Priti gave a donation to the Mayor’s chosen charities for her year in office; Macmillan Cancer Support and the Witham Amateur Operatic Society.
