The Witham MP, Priti Patel has today (24th January) had a meeting with Emma Palmer, the Chief Executive of Greenfields Community Housing Ltd, at their offices in Braintree. Under discussion were the proposed merger between Greenfields and Colne Housing which could generate a £500 million investment to build thousands of affordable homes, in the next five years.

Also on the agenda were the needs of tenants in Witham including working to address residents’ concerns about anti-social behaviour, Greenfields’ programme for carrying out maintenance and repairs to their stock and improving the quality of housing in Witham.

Commenting after the meeting, Priti said: “It was good to catch up with Emma and hear about what Greenfields has in the pipeline. They are a key organisation that owns a great deal of property in Witham and in Essex as a whole and they will play a major role in tackling the affordable housing shortage in our part of the world. I will continue to work with them to ensure that we keep on top of housing issues in Witham.”

Emma Palmer, CEO of Greenfields said; “We are grateful to Priti Patel for taking the time out of her busy schedule to visit us and we were pleased to bring her up to date on our exciting plans for the future. We believe housing associations like Greenfields are key to addressing the shortage of genuinely affordable housing in the region, and it is vitally important that there is good communication between ourselves, local MPs and the Government.”
