Witham MP Priti Patel recently met with Brad Wendes, Director of Kinetix, and saw the youth intervention project that they are currently running. They set up the Kinetix Academy CIC in 2022 to deliver sports intervention, mentorship, access to qualifications, and food education to young people from low-income families and those at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system.
Kinetix have continued to engage closely with local Pupil Referral Units and the high schools in Witham to offer early intervention for young people who are either at risk, or not engaging with education – including anxious school refusers.

During the visit, Priti and Brad (who recently was appointed chair of the Witham Carnival Association) also discussed how they can work together for this year’s carnival, following on from the Carnival Court personal donation Priti made on Friday 5th April.

Priti said after her visit: “I want to thank Brad for all his work with Witham Carnival, I am so pleased to be working with him and the team at the Witham Carnival Association to support the Carnival Court and make this year’s event and enjoyable occasion.

I was also pleased to visit Kinetix with Brad to see the important work they do to support young people struggling in the education system and keeping them on a path away from the Criminal Justice System. As Home Secretary I saw the importance that initiatives like Kinetix provide to young people across the country to give them the best chance in life.”
