Priti Patel tours Oaks Hospital and sees new state of the art CT scanner
Witham’s MP, Priti Patel, has today (25th June) been given a tour of privately owned Oaks Hospital, Mile End Road, Colchester which is part of the independent hospital operator group, Ramsay Health Care. Patients from Witham routinely go to Oaks Hospital for specialist private and NHS healthcare treatment and the MP was keen to see the facilities, including the new static CT scanner, for herself.
Oaks Hospital has a modern theatre complex comprising of four operating theatres fully equipped for wide range of surgery including routine and emergency procedures. The treatments provided by the Hospital include cancer services, breast screening, general surgery, EN&T, gynaecology, dermatology, orthopaedics, and physiotherapy.
Dr Andy Jones, CEO of Ramsay Health Care UK and Amy Simpson, Hospital Director, conducted Priti’s tour. They were particularly keen for her to see their new CT scanner, which considerably enhances the Hospital’s ability to meet urgent clinical care needs and is a response to advancements in imaging technology which make the increasing use of radiological investigations by clinicians a more effective form of diagnosis, leading to the correct treatments.
Commenting after her visit, Priti said: “It was a most illuminating tour and it was particularly fascinating to see the way the Hospital has adopted new technology to enhance the treatments it offers. The new CT scanner is particularly impressive as was the general environment within the hospital.”
Dr Jones said: “It was great to have Priti here on site with us and we were pleased to be able to give her the full tour and to brief her on exactly what we do at Oaks Hospital. Our recent investment in the new CT scanner has been made to support our continued delivery of high-quality patient care to the local community, including patients from the Witham constituency.”
