Campaign against Gimsons growing in strength
Witham MP Priti Patel, local campaigners and councillors have met to discuss the next steps to take in opposing the large housing development plans for the Gimsons site. Hundreds of local residents across Witham have been lobbying Braintree District Council to reject the plans for a wide range of reasons including the impact on local services, road safety and the loss of amenity. Priti said:
“The campaign against these plans is growing in strength with more and more local people objecting. The level of opposition is unprecedented as people feel very strongly that this development plan is wrong for the site. This is over-development and we are all pressing Braintree District Council hard to refuse the application.”
“Over a number of years we have successfully fought off previous plans to develop this site. Local people are resolute in their opposition to the development and I am pleased to be working with residents, campaigners and councillors.”
